Less than 12 hours after my last post Sybil and Minerva fell victim to a fox … or at least that’s what I’m assuming from the pathetic guinea fowl sized pile of feathers that was left behind.

Between that, and some persistent health issues, I haven’t felt much like blogging

which is sad too, because there’s been a heck of a lot of stitching going on.

Will try to catch you all up this weekend, okay ?

    Oh Susan, I’m so sorry.

Susan, I’m so sorry you lost your two lovely girls. We suffered a number of fox attacks over a few nights about a month ago, and my two young Marran roosters and five brown hens were taken. I know exactly how you are feeling. I’m sending you lots of hugs and hoping you feel better soon.

Sorry to hear about your guinea fowls. Rotten foxes !

  5. Margaret says:

    Hope you feel better soon.

You do seem to have a lot of predators out there in the bush. I get so used to my (fairly) safe suburban environment that I forget that other people live in very different environments.
I’m sorry the hens got taken.

  7. gayle says:

Ooooooohhhh… I know how awful that is – we have problems with predators, too. May the rest of your critters live long and happy lives. (And you, as well. I hope you feel better soon.)

  8. roseredshoes says:

Gah, d@mn foxes! Hope you are feeling a bit less sad now.

  9. Alice says:

I hope you’re feeling better now, Susan. At least your garden may have been saved by the fox.

I don’t keep poultry, but I went out Saturday and a hawk had taken a mourning dove just outside the windows. So that was what all the flurry at the birdfeeder was about.

Moggie shares your feelings about foxes….foxy who was shot when I was born ….in the days when ladies wore them draped around the neck…and he was made up thus…often lies on the top of a sofa….yes i can hear you saying yuck…but there is a little sentimentality there plus the only good fox is usually a dead one…but Moggie says…..stuff the fox……oh well, you did that…OK, she says, ‘toss the fox’ and down behind the sofa it goes while madam reigns supreme on the top. Went to take a photo tonight but the battery in the camera was “exhausted”….huh, I could teach it exhaustion!!
Nice pictures of a workshop in my blog. slight advertising but I have been a slack blogger and slack reader also.

  12. Hope you are feeling better Susan, sorry about the fowls too. Looking forward to your next post.

  13. Susan I am so sorry for your loss. You must still be feeling pretty crummy.
I have missed your voice. I have missed hearing about Nadie (& the boy), the goat goodness or godesses, your crocheting and your dancing and singing. If you wouldn’t mind I would like to send some postcards to your son from Oregon. (USA)
Susan, former lurker finally coming forward.
